Slowing down, getting outside and nurturing the whole child and their education in an organic, natural and authentic way.

Miss Bethany
Owner/Director/Lead Teacher
Hello! My name is Bethany Keskitalo, and I am the owner and one of the lead teachers at Sandhill Forest School. I am a certified elementary school teacher with an endorsement is social studies, as well as, a certified nature teacher. I have always been passionate about a slower paced, more natural education. When I had my own children, I became even more interested in respectful and gentle parenting, and I've worked hard to incorporate this in our everyday life. I believe that it is really important to nurture the whole child, and allow them to explore and follow their own interests. I also feel that children should be seen AND heard, and be allowed to express themselves, while encouraging mindfulness and a deeper understanding of themselves and their big feelings. I have been teaching forest school for about three years now, and continue to be excited about my profession and it's importance. I care deeply about the lessons that we teach, and about my students as individuals. Deep and meaningful connections are everything in life, and I'm happy to be a a guide for future generations.
Miss Lori
Co-Teacher
Miss Lori has been with Sandhill Forest School since the winter of 2023. She is a yoga enthusiast, mom of two (and dog mom), nature lover, philanthropist and just a wonderful person through and through. Other than her work at Sandhill, she has worked with children as a church volunteer and nanny. She is creative and calm, and is always looking for ways to connect with our students, or, help them connect with each other and nature. You can often find Miss Lori foraging with the kids, guiding them through tricky and risky situations, or being artistic with them. Sandhill wouldn't be the same without her calm, kind and genuine presence.
